Background & experience
Luke first joined Burlingtons in June 2019 following completion of his LLB at the University of Liverpool. Having returned to studying to complete his LPC/LLM at BPP London, he is now a trainee solicitor at the firm. Luke works on a broad spectrum of litigious matters ranging from international commercial disputes to defamation actions.
Experience
Luke has recently worked on the following cases:
- Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority -v- Farhad Azima: acting for the Defendant/Counterclaimant and Appellant in the High Court and Court of Appeal, in defending claims made by a sovereign wealth fund and advancing a counterclaim alleging state sponsored hacking
- Jamal Hijazi -v- Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (AKA Tommy Robinson): acting for the Claimant in the High Court in bringing defamation proceedings against Tommy Robinson.
- [Fintech Client] -v- [Payment Aggregator]: acting for the Claimant in the High Court against a payment aggregator in relation to allegations of fraudulently retained monies. An emergency worldwide freezing order, proprietary injunction and third-party disclosure order were sought and obtained.
- Turvey & Anor -v- Finders Genealogists & Anor: detailed costs assessment in the Senior Courts Costs Office following settled defamation proceedings.
